For Jack...

I was going over Rowans SA Rocks, just looking at the archives and stuff. This is from her review on July 8 when we first met up...

Jack, we miss you! Get your behind *behind* the drums. As the boys would say, YOU OWN.

The Killing Floor put on a great show. All four members are excellent musicians. Larry Rimes on percussion, with a great bongo and conga setup, also providing backing harmonies. Then the two showmen of the group, Jack Trevino on drums and JCM on guitar and lead vocals. Trevino really knows his way around a drum kit...and I mean AROUND. When he does a drum solo, he's not just back behind his drums pounding away, he's up and all around his set, using every bit of hardware on his drums to get different sounds and effects, even standing up on the front of the drums to play.

Update from The Trevinos

Hello everyone,

Both Jack and I would like to thank everyone for all of the prayers regarding Jack's surgery. Jack is doing much better today; and we are grateful to Dr. Boone for the wonderful job that he did on Jack's wrist. Jack is following the orders that the doctor has given him, and he is wearing his brace. We will be seeing Dr. Boone this week to have the insicion checked and we will keep everyone informed.

Again; Jack, Christina, AJ, and myself wish to thank everyone for the prayers. Jack says, "WALK IN BEAUTY, PEACE LOVE." "WALK THE BEAUTY WAY" and "OUCH MY WRISTS HURTS. CAN I PLEASE HAVE SOMETHING SPECIAL TO CARRY MY THOUGHTS AWAY."

Jack is definitely crusing at 45,000 feet and soaring.

Jack would like to send special thanks to his good friend RYAN SHOOK for the use of his GP kit at the BOOZEHOUND show.

And last but not least, Jack would like to thank Martin(the replacement drumma). We both appreciate the love that you are giving to fill in for Jack while the healing sets in. We will be at the show on September 10 at ROCK CITY BAR. Please Larry, DO NOT BRING JACK'S STICKS. HE IS NOT ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE. (Jack is trying to figure out how to play with his left hand. We cannot let this happen.)

Take care and I will fill everyone in on Jack's healing.

Pat and Jack

Taco Land Benefit Photos

San Antonio Express News:

In the aftermath of the June 24 shootings at Taco Land, there were hopes and prayers that bartender Denise "Sunshine" Koger and doorman "Gypsy" Doug Morgan would survive the attack that claimed the life of Ram Ayala, the storied owner of the storied place.

Musicians and fans sprang into action to put together benefits to pay tribute to Ram while raising money for Koger and Morgan. Sam's Burger Joint, up the street from Taco Land, had an opening July 30 and immediately that date was pegged for a Taco Land fundraiser.

Morgan died July 13; Koger is recovering. But the mourning continues and it's likely there'll be more good stories and more good will Saturday at Sam's when a bunch of artists, including Bone Machine, Satantonio, Double Clutch, Prepare to Defend It, Racing for Last, Claude "Butch" Morgan & H!X and Eric Geyer team to remember Ram and
Doug and continue to send get-well wishes and give a monetary assist to Sunshine.

It should be noted that now, after 37 days, candles are still alight on the front porch of Taco Land...we placed ours just last week. Knowing how much this touched us all, I have a feeling it will remain the same until the bldg. is destroyed.
